Route - Colle delle Finestre
Route description
The pass is located inside Orsiera Rocciavrè Natural Park and connects the municipalities of Meana di Susa in Val Susa and Usseaux, in Val Chisone. This road born as a military communication route, as well as for the beauty of the places it crosses, has a constant slope between 9 and 10% and for this reason it is well known to cyclists for its hardness. Facing the climb from Valsusian side means walking 17 km, 1700 m in altitude, 33 hairpin bends. Part of the route (from Meana Colletto to the summit for a total of 8 km) is on a dirt road, which makes the ascent even more difficult and the risk of punctures high. The landscape you cross is varied and at times truly spectacular.

Points of interest
After Meana di Susa you enter a chestnut wood and from this point, for about three km, an impressive number of hairpin bends are concentrated. Still in the woods you arrive at an altitude of 1452 m of the Meana Colletto where the asphalt ends. Certainly the most demanding part of the climb begins now, despite the well-trodden surface. From this point on, the valley opens up and the landscape changes completely: the road climbs between pastures and woods. When there are a few kilometers left to the hill, you begin to glimpse the Forte delle Finestre, built in 1861 to control the important pass. The view, once you reach the hill, is truly spectacular.
